Edison pearls are freshwater pearls grown in similar manner as their saltwater cousins. Instead of inserting only a piece of mantle tissue, as is the case with traditional freshwater pearls, farmers insert a bead nucleus.

This farming method not only produces large pearls, but also the most colorful freshwater pearls we have ever come across. Some of the very finest have deep colors and striking, mirror-like luster.
